The Church of The Immaculate Conception at Farm Street in Mayfair is a fine example of Victorian Gothic Architecture. The original 1840s building, by J J Scholes, was further extended by Clutton and Romaine-Walker with additions by AWN Pugin and Adrian Gilbert-Scott.
After many years of being lit with harsh metal halide and sodium floodlighting, Light Perceptions have been appointed to develop a new lighting strategy which is expected to restore a more sensitive and intimate ambience to this beautifully decorated and richly furnished interior.
Work has started by visiting the archives and researching the architectural and pictorial history of the church identifying evidence of older electric and gas lighting systems.
